How to become the best parents in the world

“Parents aren’t the people you come from. They’re the people you want to be, when you grow up” – Jodie Picoult.

So being a good parent becomes a supreme responsibility of each mommy and daddy out there. Through this blog, you will learn interesting ways that you can adopt to be a good role model and build a rock solid relationship with the apple of your eyes.

Attention is key  Take out time from your day, create little pockets when you can be with your child and your child only. Keep all distractions at bay and pay attention to them- the tone of voice, their words and most important the body language- the subtle nuances of behavior that can’t go unnoticed from the eyes of a parent. Only you know how your child behaves when happy or stressed or upset. So be there, take out time and pay attention.

Have fun- As you take out time and give your child the much wanted and loved attention, put your hair down and have fun. There is no better way to bond than to play the occasional game of ball or just some time cycling or some time sand castles on the beach. And as you play with your child, use the opportunity to model values that you cherish- integrity, fair-play, responsible choices, etc. What is close to your value system is what you can impart while you play together and have fun.

“Being a parent means loving your children more than you’ve loved yourself”

Sometimes ignorance is bliss, indeed: There will be days when your child is an adorable, gentle and most lovable kid in the whole world……and then there will be days when he will behave like a completely different child. Throwing tantrums, messing up the house, answering back, troubling the poor dog at home even- such days come more regularly than not and man, do they come regularly. Aargh! What you really want to do is scream, but just hold on there and look at the larger picture. This is a phase where your baby is trying to be assertive- so be patient, try to understand why is he behaving in this way and…..talk to the little brat! It takes some patience but, believe me in most cases it works. Reacting and getting angry every time is not important. Sometimes, ignoring a situation and talking around it is a better way out.

So happy parenting to you! You love your kid and now is the time to show it as well… with some patience, attention and a lot of TLC!

“What it’s like to be a parent: It’s one of the hardest things you’ll ever do but in exchange it teaches you the meaning of unconditional love” – Nicholas Sparks
